Azerbaijan and Hungary want to further expand their cooperation in the areas of defense, military and arms industry.

Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky (r.) recalled at the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart General Zakir Hasanov on Friday in Budapest that Hungary and Azerbaijan have transformed their broad cooperation into a strategic partnership in 2023. Important areas include energy cooperation, as Azerbaijan is one of Europe’s most important partners in the field of energy security, but also the pharmaceutical and food industries and agriculture.

Szalay-Bobrovniczky stressed that the Hungarian EU Council Presidency, which begins on July 1, also aims to strengthen the EU’s defense capabilities and defense industry. Azerbaijan recently liberated its territories occupied by Armenians for 30 years and thanked Hungary for its involvement in demining the region.
