“Carnival in the South too!” was the title of the parade that carried the pulse of the great celebration to the periphery and proved in practice that the Carnival flourishes outside the city center as well.
A crowd of carnival-goers with imaginative and humorous disguises participated in the parade that started from the junction of St. I. Pratsika and El. Venizelos and passing through the streets of the Ag. I. Pratsika, Antheias, Evia, Miletos ended at Taraboura square in the Workers’ Residences. Throughout the carnival parade, the undiminished merriment, dancing, joy and carelessness on the faces of the participants were characteristic.
Participating were primary schools – Parents and Guardians Associations of the Southern District, the Cultural Associations of Terpsis, Taraboura, Agios Nikolaos Lefkas and the Pan-Asian Association of Patras and Surroundings with “Gaitanaki”. The parade was flanked by a Children’s Carnival float (Skylaki) and the Musical Float giving the rhythm of the fun.
At the end of the parade, participants and spectators got involved in an authentic feast, danced their hearts out and presented traditional events.
The carnival parade in the South Department was included in the program of events of the Patrinos Carnival 2024 and came to be added to the extremely successful decentralized actions of the organization.
