Paul Pelosi Banned From Driving for Six Months After Hit-and-Run Plea

Paul Pelosi has lost his driving privileges for six months following a hit-and-run crash in California wine country, marking another court appearance stemming from behind-the-wheel incidents.

Plea Entered in Napa County Court

Pelosi, 86, pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of hit-and-run and a traffic infraction for making an unlawful turn, according to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office. The charges stem from a July crash in Yountville where his brown Maserati convertible collided with an unoccupied parked Tesla.

Terms of Probation and Restitution

Under the terms of the plea agreement approved by Napa County Superior Court Judge Scott R.L. Young, Pelosi received one year of probation and the maximum six-month driving ban allowed under the state vehicle code. Fox News reported that Young also ordered him to complete a 10-day work program and report for booking by November 20.

Court records show Pelosi paid $11,191.14 in restitution to the owner of the damaged vehicle, alongside separate court fines and fees. Witnesses at the time of the July 3 incident told police that the convertible briefly stopped after the impact before driving away from the scene.

Pelosi Returns to Court Following Prior Napa County Crash

Deputies later located Pelosi about a half-mile away. Prosecutors noted that while misdemeanor hit-and-run cases involving exclusively property damage rarely trigger public news releases, this case warranted an announcement due to intense public interest.

The legal resolution brings Pelosi back into court four years after a separate high-profile collision in Napa County. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence after crashing his Porsche into an oncoming Jeep, an incident that resulted in five days in jail, three years of probation, fines, and the mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device.

A broader review of court records by The New York Times revealed that Pelosi had accumulated at least eight driving violations over the preceding decade across Napa, San Mateo, Marin, and San Francisco counties, involving infractions such as speeding, running red lights, and driving against traffic on a one-way street.
