Dammam: ‘Machans’ Kallu and Mathu will bring excitement to the expatriates of Jubail during Onam celebrations. The venue set up for the Payas competition in Lulu Jubail was engulfed in noise as the crowd met the duo with cheers, slogans and onam songs. The mat competition was organized by ‘Gulf Madhyamya’ for Lulu. 15 people selected from the registered people of the Facebook page of ‘Gulf Madhyamya’ came to the final fight.
The contestants surprised even the judges by preparing a variety of stews. Celebrity anchors Raj Kalesh and Mathukkutty completed the judging by highlighting different flavors like green chillies, onions, spinach and pavka. Subina Munir, who prepared a stew with green chillies, won the first prize. Ayesha Sheheen, who made pavka stew, won the second position. Amina Kanesh, who made a stew with various fruits, came third. Then Kallu and Mathu engaged the audience with various games and magic.
It started with a shouting match. Women are the winners in most cases. Prizes were also given to those who won the competitions. Kalesh and Mathukkutty said that the changing face of Saudi Arabia filled them with excitement and joy. The celebrations of Onam, which came two years after the outbreak of Covid-19, became unforgettable for the expatriate community in Jubail with the arrival of Kallu and Mathu.
Lulu Regional Manager Salam Sulaiman, Jubail General Manager Asif Hakeem, Store Manager Muhammad Talal, Security Manager Abdullah Hajiri, Lulu Marketing Manager Sachin Muhammad and Assistant Marketing Manager Sajith distributed the prizes to the winners. Gulf media representatives and Lulu employees led the stew competition.
