Paying a ransom to hackers after suffering a cyberattack? For months, the authorities have been repeating that this is not a good strategy. Because paying tens or even hundreds of thousands of francs risks fueling the cybercrime industry and motivating hackers to launch new attacks, with even greater technological means. Another reason was also invoked by the authorities until now: the risk that hackers, even having obtained a ransom, do not keep their word. And that they still publish the data on the darknet, or do not give their victim a digital key to regain access to their computer systems.
