Payment through the Apple App Store: Netflix risks withdrawing your access

2024-02-27 18:14:45

If you have gotten into the habit of paying for your Netflix subscription through the Apple App Store, the video-on-demand platform may suspend your access while you change your payment method.

This is now indicated on the Netflix help site, where it is specified that it is better to change your payment method.

Netflix had already ended this payment method for new consumers in 2018. The change therefore concerns existing customers who already had acquired rights to pay with Apple.

If a new payment method is not added by the monthly subscription renewal date, your account may not be usable until no changes are made, said a spokesperson for the company to CNN on Monday.

The policy change would affect both U.S. and Canadian customers, the spokesperson noted.

For years, companies that make their applications available on the App Store have opposed Apple taking a cut from purchases made by the application.
