Payments with the Postcard restored Friday afternoon – rts.ch

After Thursday’s nationwide outage at Postfinance, the Swiss Post’s banking subsidiary continued to struggle with system issues on Friday that were limiting payments. The disruption was finally able to be resolved late Friday afternoon.

Postfinance managed to stabilize its system on Friday during the day. All services with the Postcard are working again without any restrictions, the banking subsidiary of La Poste said at the end of the afternoon. Customers can once again pay in stores with their card.

The exact cause of the disturbance is not yet known. According to current knowledge, the subsidiary of La Poste can rule out a hacker attack. It can also “ensure that customers’ money and data have always been safe,” said company boss Hansruedi Köng.

The company ensures that it wants to do everything to find out the reasons for this breakdown and prevent this incident from happening again. She also apologizes to her customers.

Not the first breakdown

On Thursday, the yellow giant’s bank had encountered problems with several systems, including Postomats and Twint. Cash withdrawals were possible again on Thursday evening, as were payments with Twint and by credit card. On the other hand, the problems during payments with the Postcard continued on Friday for a good part of the day before being resolved.

This is not the first outage to affect Postfinance. But this incident may resonate a little more than the previous ones, because it comes in a return to school where the theme of the blackout and fears of Switzerland’s vulnerability dominate.

The Confederation recommends always having a few small bills on hand to pay in the event of a general breakdown of distributors.
