The President of the Board of Directors of the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone, Manuel Francisco Pedro, was elected member of the Board of the World Organization of Free Zones, during the 9th World Conference of Free Zones, which took place in the United Arab Emirates, at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, from 1 to 3 May 2023.

The event, which had as its motto, “An Ecosystem of Trust that Drives Prosperity”, brought together political speakers, industry leaders, investors and experts from around the world to discuss the latest trends, challenges and opportunities in the global free zone industry.

The conference featured insightful speeches, panel discussions and workshops covering a wide range of topics related to free zones, including their role in attracting foreign investment, creating jobs, promoting trade, and supporting economic development.

Participants had the opportunity to network with their peers and participate in productive discussions that can help shape the future of the global free zone landscape.

On the first day of the event, on the 1st of May, the opening conference had the participation of 8 speakers, who addressed topics related to trust in leadership, protection and leadership in the future, Studies of development of Economic Zones and Building trust between the steakholders.

On the 2nd of May, the 9th Annual International Conference and Exhibition of the World Organization of Free Zones (AICE 2023) at an event that brought together Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai ), Free Zone representatives from all over the world, around 600 industry leaders; specialists in Free Zone sectors; trade and logistics; the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ZEE Manuel Francisco Pedro, one of the strongest candidates to be a member of the board of the WFZO, made his presentation on the role of the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone in the process of diversifying the Economy, which will be voted on the day May 3, 2023.

Of the 12 participants who ran for membership of the WFZO Council (AICE 2023), the President of the Board of Directors of the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone, Manuel Francisco Pedro was appointed as a member of the Board of the World Organization of Free Zones for the next 2 years .
