Political observer from Al Azhar University Indonesia, Ujang Komarudin, hopes that the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) can unite in taking the opposition path during the leadership of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka in 2024-2029. These two parties must be at odds with the government in order to maintain a healthy democratic climate.
“In the future, if democracy is to be good, PDIP and PKS must act as opposition forces. “Don’t everyone join the Prabowo-Gibran coalition,” said Ujang to Media Indonesia, Monday (29/4).
If all political parties enter government, the ruler will have too much of a majority and there will be a lot of potential for abuse. The DPR will also not have sharp supervisory control because everyone has the opportunity to support the policies that are put forward.
Ujang hopes that PDIP and PKS will be united when in opposition. According to him, the two political parties will have the same concerns about criticizing Prabowo-Gibran.
“However, everything is still dynamic. “I also heard that Prabowo will meet PKS,” he said.
Most recently, PDIP representatives were seen attending the halal bihalal event as well as the celebration of the 22nd PKS anniversary at the PKS DPP, South Jakarta. PDIP was represented by the Chairman of the DPR RI Fraction, Utut Adianto.
Senior PDIP politician Hendrawan Supratikno said that Utut’s arrival at the PKS event was proof that the party with the bull logo continues to maintain communication with all political parties.
“We continue to communicate with all political parties. “We are building good cooperation with all parties in parliament,” said Hendrawan. (Z-11)
