Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician Chico Hakim denied Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s accusation that there was an attempt to prohibit the friendship between President Joko Widodo and Megawati Soekarnoputri. Gibran’s statement was in response to PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto who previously said that there would be no Eid meeting between Megawati and Jokowi.
Chico said that what Hasto conveyed was the voice from the grassroots of the PDIP branch management to the elite. They asked to reject the meeting between Jokowi and Megawati.
According to him, many PDIP cadres are not happy with Jokowi’s attitude in the 2024 presidential election. It is known that Jokowi gave his blessing to his son, Gibran, to become Prabowo Subianto’s running mate in the 2024 presidential election.
Jokowi’s attitude is different from PDIP which nominated one of its cadres, Ganjar Pranowo, as a presidential candidate.
“Pak Hasto’s statement is a representation of the inner mood of PDIP cadres from the grassroots to the elite. We can understand that Mr Hasto as secretary general actively communicates with all cadres and even branch administrators,” said Chico when contacted, Thursday (18/4) .
Chico said that currently his party is still focused on the 2024 presidential election results dispute trial (PHPU), the decision of which will be announced on April 22.
“We consider that this election stage process is not completely over. This is because suing the Constitutional Court is part of that process. We want to focus on that and respect our voters who feel there was election fraud,” he said. (Z-2)
