The performance of the recognized ensemble includes beautiful early church and Greek, Syrian, prayer songs, as well as Orthodox music by Estonian composers. Most of the sacred works represented in the program can very rarely be heard in a concert performance.

Acclaimed by critics

The Orthodox Singers ensemble, consisting of professional musicians, was created by Valeri Petrov in 1989. It is a group of musicians recognized as one of the best professional choral ensembles in Estonia, whose repertoire includes both early and more modern Orthodox church songs. In addition to well-known foreign composers, the ensemble’s repertoire also includes musical works by well-known Estonian composers Arvo Pärt, Cyrillus Kreek, and Veljo Tormis. The repertoire of the ensemble is constantly updated with new works.

The musicians of the Orthodox Singers masterfully master the means of expression typical of different eras: the ensemble’s performance is characterized by a complete immersion in every word of the scriptures, impeccable vocal technique, a well-thought-out dynamic program and an extraordinary sense of style.

Critics have repeatedly highlighted the ensemble’s uncanny ability to maintain the unity of form of the piece during the performance, while at the same time achieving an incredibly dynamic piano, which is best described by the phrase “the sound melts away”.

Orthodox Singers have repeatedly performed in Russia, the United States, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Germany, Great Britain, France, Belgium, Ireland, Lebanon, Hungary and Poland.
