Penalty for copying accident scenes | 17Jan2022

Abu Dhabi Police in various emirates in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have said that it is a crime to gather at the scene of a car accident and to record scenes, including those of the injured. It is also against the law to post pictures of injured or dead people on social media. UAE Under federal law, such offenses carry a fine of up to 1,000 dirhams.

Brigadier General Saif Muhair al-Masroui, director of the Dubai Police Traffic Division, said the group had been fined a large number of people at the scene. Crowds of people make it difficult for security personnel and lifeguards, including ambulances, to reach the scene. And it can cause traffic jams and even other accidents.

The UAE, in collaboration with the police and civil defense departments of various emirates, is working to end such acts. The Home Ministry had earlier issued a warning. Authorities said the public should co-operate with the police in such special circumstances.
