Christmas Eve is just a few hours away. Many of those who have come to Salzburg in public with their luggage are looking forward to warmly welcoming their loved ones on the platform. The fully packed bags just have to go into the trunk and then under the decorated fir tree. A procedure, as usual and tried and tested.
But the police are already waiting with the first gifts. Any joy of seeing each other again disappears in seconds with the illegal parking mandate in the full short-term parking zone. Between all the gifts, this present seems like one too many. In the hectic rush of consumerism, one less thing would perhaps be just as contemplative. Because it’s not the gift that counts, but the simple gesture. Daniel wishes all readers (and the police) a Merry Christmas.
