“The first thing that touched me when I came to settle here was to realize that people take the time to live, the time to chat, to drink coffee together. Everyone says hello to each other, unlike what happens in big cities.” No more life in Amsterdam or London, it will be the Gers, its heritage and its traditions.

When he resumed drawing, which he had abandoned since his adolescence, Perry Taylor reproduced landscapes, the Gers bastides.

People appear little by little, as the English begin to understand the Gers heritage, the character of its inhabitants. He then sketches the Gersois, their habits, always with humor. “I like to tease rugby players, hunters and winegrowers. And people appreciate it,” smiles the artist.

For several months, an exhibition has been dedicated to him at the Château de Lavardens. Around sixty paintings are scattered throughout the rooms of the castle, and can be discovered until the end of January. In addition, Perry Taylor has just opened his gallery in Marciac, located opposite the town hall, three weeks ago.

A 6th book is already in preparation, which should be released next summer. Card game or even calendar, other projects are carried out in parallel by the artist. And when we ask him if he plans to one day leave Gers to return to his native England, Perry is categorical, there is no question of it, since from now on he is a Gascon.

“I was inducted into the company of the black pig of Bigorre, into the company of the Musketeers of Armagnac and I am also a member of the Escoubade brotherhood.” Indeed, one cannot do more Gascon..
