Peru: Bus fell into ravine – At least 23 dead

At least 23 people were killed when a bus plunged into a ravine in Peru. The accident occurred last night in the province of Cajamarca, in the northern part of the country.

A bus carrying 35 people veered off a country road and fell into a 200-meter ravine, ending up in a river, according to Peruvian media reports.

Prosecutor Olga Bombadilla Teran told the RPP network that about 15 survivors were taken to hospitals in Cajamarca and Celentin with serious injuries.

The causes of the accident remain unclear so far.
