In what must be the worst result in the history of Peruvian volleyball, the Peruvian volleyball team finished last in the South American Volleyball Championship after falling 3-2 against Chile on the closing day.

Peru lost all four games it played. First against Argentina 3-1, they repeated the result in the loss against Colombia. Then they fell 3-0 against hosts Brazil and on the final day, in the game that sought the victory of honor, they fell this afternoon 3-2 against Chile (25-23, 23-25, 17-25, 25- 12 and 13-15).
It is the first time that Chile has beaten Peru and with the two points added, they placed fourth in the standings, leaving Bicolor last with just one point (the one added for taking the match to five sets).
