Peskov denied information about Putin’s new speech on a special operation in Ukraine – Politics

MOSCOW, 27 February. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin does not plan to make a new statement on Sunday on the special operation in Ukraine after the proposal to Kiev to hold talks in Belarus. This was reported to TASS by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.

Earlier, the statement was announced by the Ruptly video hosting agency, a link to the upcoming broadcast is available on its official website.

“No,” a Kremlin spokesman said in response to a question about whether such a speech by the president was really expected.

Earlier, Peskov told reporters that a Russian delegation had arrived in Belarus for talks with the Ukrainian side. Minsk later confirmed that everything necessary for the meeting had been prepared in Gomel.

At the same time, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that any other cities, but not Belarusian ones, could be a platform for negotiations with Moscow, since, according to him, aggressive actions are being carried out from the territory of the republic.

On February 24, Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to an appeal from the leaders of the Donbass republics for help. He stressed that Moscow’s plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories, the goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. As stated in the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian military does not strike at cities, but disable only the military infrastructure, so nothing threatens the civilian population.
