Being buried with your pet will soon be authorized in Wallonia, as is already the case in Brussels. Until now, the practice was tolerated, but as of next September, the regional government will legalize this practice.
“Every week there are requests. It’s an excellent initiative to put it in the law, so people will no longer hesitate to do it, and it’s a gesture of love“, explains Michel Thirionet, manager of an animal crematorium.
Isabelle Van Braekel, manager of a grooming salon, completely understands this new legislation. “It’s a family member, we live with it for years, for some people, it’s like their child“.
Be careful though, this will only be possible if the animal has died and was cremated before the death of its owner.
