“That is an absolute irresponsibility and a lack of respect for the citizenship (…). Máximo Torero, chief economist of the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), has mentioned very clearly that the most serious problem is in peri-urban areas, because in terms of food, most rural areas have something to handle himself,” said the former head of state in an interview with Latina.
Likewise, considered “incredible” that the president has referred in that way and mentioned that what must be done now is to get together to face the problem of famine.
“The incredible thing is that a President of the Republic says things like that. The situation is equivalent to what we had when the pandemic started. Everyone has to get together here. Call the ministers, organize, call people from abroad, negotiate. Unfortunately that is not happening now, ”she remarked.
Francisco Sagasti on ahead of elections: “I no longer see another way out”
