“Peter von Kant”, always bitter tears

Famous fashion designer, brunette Petra von Kant (Margit Carstensen) lives in a luxurious loft with the mute Marlene (Irm Hermann), her assistant, her whipping boy. The seamstress meets Karin (Hanna Schygulla), a small proletarian whom she makes her star model. And which she falls in love with passionately. In the second act of the tragedy, the ungrateful Karin rejects Petra the redhead and leaves. In the third act, the blonde Petra agonizes over her loved ones and cries. She ends up alone in the dark. Released in 1972, Petra von Kant’s Bitter Tearsa burning masterpiece of great psychological violence, has lost none of its cruelty.
