Famous fashion designer, brunette Petra von Kant (Margit Carstensen) lives in a luxurious loft with the mute Marlene (Irm Hermann), her assistant, her whipping boy. The seamstress meets Karin (Hanna Schygulla), a small proletarian whom she makes her star model. And which she falls in love with passionately.
