Owen Beck and the Peterborough Petes overcame a false start to defeat the London Knights 6-5 in Game 3 of the OHL Final on Monday.

The Knights spoiled the early game festivities for fans gathered at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. There were only 31 seconds left when Sean McGurn rattled the ropes. On the streak, the Canadiens’ defense prospect, Logan Mailloux, got an assist.

Just under five minutes later, Ryan Winterton added his side’s lead with his 13e series net.

The reply came from the Habs’ second-round pick in the last draft. Beck surprised the keeper from a tight angle to bring his team within one goal late in the first period.

He came back to the charge in the middle period. Beck cut off a shot from the point and spotted teammate JR Avon going on a breakaway. He beat Zach Bowen with a nice fake to tie the game.

The Knights led 5-4 after 40 minutes, but Chase Stillman tied the game to send both teams into overtime. It was just two minutes into the game when Tucker Robertson pounced on a loose puck in the slot to flash the red light and give Peterborough the win.

The Petes won Game 2 of the series 5-3 after going down 3-0 in the opener. The two teams will meet again on Wednesday for the fourth game.
