Peugeot e-308: This lion has forgotten how to roar

The selection of electric cars has increased dramatically in recent years. The Stromer are mostly SUVs or sedans, but station wagons are still very rare. The Stellantis Group is vehemently pushing into this gap. In addition to the Opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric (from 42,199 euros), there is now also the Peugeot e-308 SW.

The whisper-quiet station wagon has an electric motor with an output of 115 kW (156 hp). The maximum torque is 270 Newton meters.

Fast charging up to 100 kW

The hunger for energy is satisfied by a battery pack with a usable capacity of 51 kilowatt hours (kWh). According to the WLTP standard, a range of up to 409 kilometers is possible (415 kilometers for the five-door hatchback). Peugeot states the WLTP consumption for the e-308 SW as 15.1 to 15.7 kWh per 100 kilometers; for the hatchback it is 14.9 to 15.6 kWh. Recharging takes place at the fast charging station (DC) with an output of up to 100 kilowatts. At the wallbox (AC) it stops at 11 kW.

The low consumption values and the high range make possible, among other things, improved aerodynamics (especially in the front end and underbody) as well as a reduction in friction losses through special tires (18-inch aluminum wheels with optimized rim design).

The price of the Peugeot e-308 starts at 42,750 euros (Allure) or 45,400 euros. The surcharge for the significantly more spacious SW station wagon is 1,400 euros each. Any subsidies have not yet been deducted from these prices.

Wide range of drive systems for the 308

Overall, the Peugeot 308 and Peugeot 308 SW offer a very wide range of drives: In addition to the fully electric drive, there are two plug-in hybrid drives available – with a system output of 110 kW/150 HP and 132 kW/180 HP. The two part-time electric vehicles are available in the extensive price list from 38,570 euros and 45,120 euros respectively. The combination surcharge is, as usual, 1400 euros. The purely electric range for these two models is a maximum of 60 kilometers (12.44 kWh battery capacity).

Peugeot dealers also have a variant with a three-cylinder petrol engine and an output of 96 kW/130 hp – with either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The diesel, a four-cylinder with also 96 kW/130 hp, is only available with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

And finally there is a 308 version with mild hybrid drive and 100 kW/136 hp.
