Philippe Clement will continue his career in Scotland. The former defender has been appointed coach of Rangers, the Glasgow club announced on Sunday. Clement has signed for three and a half years with the Scottish club where he will have Nicolas Raskin under his command.

Philippe Clement, 49, had been without a club since his departure from Monaco last June, then dismissed a year before the end of his contract. He succeeds Michael Beale at Rangers.
Clement arrived on the Rock on January 3, 2022 to replace Niko Kovac. He had a good second half of the season (14 victories including 9 consecutive, 5 draws and 5 defeats) and Monaco finished in 3rd place behind PSG and OM. The following season was less brilliant since ASM only won 19 of its 38 matches in the league (8 draws and 11 losses), finishing 6th and missing a European ticket.

The former Red Devil began his coaching career in 2017 at Waasland-Beveren after six years as assistant coach at Club Brugge, where he took over on an interim basis in 2012 after the dismissal of Georges Leekens. Six months after his arrival with the Waeslandiens, he signed with Genk, where he won the title with the Limburgers in 2018-2019.
Clement returned to Bruges as head coach, adding two new Belgian championship titles to his record before signing a permanent contract in the summer of 2021. During his 3rd season in Bruges, he left the Blauw en zwart then that they were in 2nd place in the championship, 7 points behind the Union and had been eliminated in the Champions League.
