On the day of the funeral of the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, he is also remembered in Kazakhstan. There is the birthplace of Vladimir Zhirinovsky – he was born in Alma-Ata, he grew up there. Vladimir Volfovich’s father, Wolf Eidelshein, is from Western Ukraine.
Lenin gave the city of Kostopol to Poland. The father of the future leader of the Liberal Democratic Party went to study in France, where he received a law degree and studied as an agronomist. And after he returned home, in 1940, he was deported to Kazakhstan and placed in a labor camp. Relatives were said to have managed to ransom him.
Vladimir Volfovich’s mother, Anna Makarova, worked in the canteen of the local institute. She had five children from NKVD Colonel Andrei Zhirinovsky – the family was also deported to Kazakhstan. Eidelstein became friends with Zhirinovsky, who, dying of tuberculosis, asked to take care of his family. Wolf and Anna got married. But even before the birth of their son, Eidelstein was sent … back to Poland. Then he went to Israel and worked there selling chemicals and fertilizers.
In Alma-Ata, the house where Zhirinovsky grew up and even the barn used by the family have been preserved. School No. 25 (now a gymnasium), where he studied, also remained. After school, Vladimir Volfovich decided to enter the Moscow State University, the Institute of Oriental Languages. As a native of a poor family, he managed to enter the special order. Thus began his great career.
Later, the head of the LDPR came to Kazakhstan more than once. His photos at the legendary Medeo skating rink, as well as pictures at his native school, have been preserved.
Vladimir Zhirinovsky died from the effects of the coronavirus on April 6, 2022 at the age of 75. He spent two months in the hospital before his death. The place for the grave of the politician was chosen at the Novodevichy cemetery.
