The top model went to Brooklyn on Tuesday March 15, wearing a loose powder pink suit to come and applaud her colleagues Kaia Gerber and Lara Stone, on the British luxury label’s fall-winter 2022-2023 show.

In the huge warehouse of a Brooklyn dock, guests are placed around mountains of mulch installed for the occasion. A summer evening air is felt in New York and the iconic model of the nineties has understood it well. Among the handpicked guests and journalists, Helena Christensen posed in front of the photographers in her light oversized suit and heeled sandals.

A remarkable style to celebrate Alexander McQueen’s return to the city that never sleeps (the label paraded there for the last time in 1999). The top, who has known hours of glory on the catwalks of Kate Middleton’s favorite house, was able to admire a new urban line, with flashy colors and patterns in reference to the mycelium (the title of the collection). A nice fashion moment.

I wanted to honor him in my collection and take inspiration from this idea of community, and more particularly from the mycelium (the vegetative apparatus of fungi, editor’s note.). The mycelium even connects the roof of the tallest skyscraper to plants, grass, soil, animals and human beings. We exist as individuals but we are much more powerfully connected to each other. Given the past two years, expressing that was a no-brainer.“

Over the 41 looks sported by models of all morphologies and genders, the wardrobe is articulated in bandaged tube dresses, outfits in flash and toxic colors. Pleats and tulle take up the shapes and textures of mushroom hats, first degree in rhinestones and threads on suit jackets, impeccable knits and fringed dresses. Whereas Lara Stone in her silver dress and studded bikersclosely followed by Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber in her sparkly asymmetrical outfit sets a festive tone for the collection, McQueen aficionados are rediscovering her legendary corseted waists and sculptural dresses.
