The Picardy Wallonia emergency services were alerted on Wednesday, around 4:20 a.m., that a fire had broken out in a shed and a house on Chaussée de Renaix in Mourcourt.

Coming from various barracks, five tankers, two pumpers, a ladder truck, a prevention ambulance and a command vehicle were dispatched to the site.

“When we arrived on the scene, two buildings were already completely engulfed in flames. There was on the one hand a workshop which hosts the activities of a glazing factory and a private building adjoining the glazing factory,” indicated around 7 a.m. Captain Grégory Petit who directed the intervention.

“The two buildings were unoccupied at the time of the fire. The workshop was completely destroyed, the same for the house which housed offices. We are still on site to extinguish the wooden cladding which had been placed on the front of the building. the house. During our intervention, two gas cylinders exploded. Fortunately, no injuries were reported,” said the officer.

The causes of this fire are currently unknown. An expert is expected on site in the morning.
