A large number of art stars in Egypt mourned the body of the artist Alaa Abdel Khaleq to his final resting place, and performed funeral prayers for him at the police mosque in Sheikh Zayed.
Alaa Abdel-Khalek passed away from our world in the early hours of Tuesday morning, at the age of 59, after a long struggle with illness.
The body was accompanied by the artist Ehab Tawfiq, who had a strong friendship with the late for many years, along with the presence of a number of artists, most notably Hamid Al Shaeri, Hossam Hosni, Muhammad Mohi, Sameh Al Soraiti, the artist and broadcaster Mona Abdel Ghani, and a large number of art and music stars and the family of the late artist.
Who is Alaa Abdel-Khalek?
• Born in 1964 in Cairo Governorate, graduated from the Institute of Music after specializing in playing the flute instrument.
• It was discovered by musician Ammar Al-Shuraie, and he presented it in the Asdeqaa band with the artists Hanan and Mona Abdel-Ghani.
• He released his first art album in the mid-eighties, titled “Mersal”, in collaboration with artist Hamid Al Shaeri.
• He presented a large number of successful albums in the 1980s and 1990s, most notably “Tayara Waraq”, “I Love You Constantly”, and “The Night”.
• Since the beginning of the 2000s, he stopped singing due to a health crisis that affected his vocal cords.
And a large number of art stars in Egypt and the Arab world were keen on mourning Alaa Abdel-Khaleq, as Hamid Al-Shaeri wrote: “There is no power or strength except with God, the death of my brother and lifelong friend, the artist Alaa Abdel-Khaleq .. My heart ached, O Alaa .. We belong to God and to Him We shall return.”
While the artist, Amr Diab, mourned him, saying through his official Facebook account: “With more sadness and sorrow, I mourn my dear colleague, the great artist, Alaa Abdel-Khaleq. May God grant him peace and grant the family patience and solace.”
And the artist, Mohamed Fouad, wrote through his account on “Instagram”: “We mourn with great sadness and sorrow the death of our dear brother and dear friend, the respected artist Alaa Abdel Khaleq, may God have mercy on him and put him in peace.”
The family of the late artist confirmed that his body will be buried in the Abbasiya tombs in the Army Square, provided that the funeral will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Police Mosque in Sheikh Zayed.
