Pier-Philippe Chevigny is a director, screenwriter and editor from Montreal, Quebec. In recent years, his short films have earned international attention, including Story (2013) and Veteran (2017). His most recent short film Recruit enjoyed worldwide success: after a notable premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2019, the film garnered more than 100 selections, 28 awards and qualified for the Oscar race for best short film. The pitch: Newly hired as a French-Spanish translator in a factory employing Guatemalan workers, Ariane, a young woman, undertakes daily resistance with them to fight against the exploitation of which they are victims.
