Pierre Guthrie, Future Uncertainty of Home F1 French Grand Prix is ”Great Concern”[F1-Gate .com]

Pierre Guthrie says uncertainty about the future of the home French Grand Prix F1 France GP is a “big concern”, but he is optimistic if a positive solution is found.

Pierre Guthrie’s first full season in F1 in 2018 coincided with the revival of the F1 French Grand Prix for the first time in 10 years. The original five-year contract for the French Grand Prix will be executed after the race at Paul Ricard in July this year, including the event in 2020, which was finally canceled.

With 22 events on this year’s F1 calendar, Qatar and China will return in 2023 and Las Vegas will be added, at least one Grand Prix will need to be removed from the schedule.

“That’s a big concern,” Pierre Guthrie said of Paul Ricard’s future.

“Of course I’m involved in the negotiations. I know the current situation and, of course, do whatever I can to help them.”

“After all, I’m not the one who puts money on the table. It’s always related to political and financial reasons, but I hope they can find an agreement.”

“The French are … not just me. Esteban (Ocon) is in the paddock and Alpine is in the paddock.”

“France is part of the sport and the history of the sport. It’s obviously sad that there will be no home races in the next few years.”

“I’m sure they’ll find an agreement.”

Uncertainty is also swirling in the future of the Monaco and Belgian Grand Prix.
