Pierre Guthrie “If you look back on the missed F1 points, you will become depressed”[F1-Gate.com]

Pierre Gasly admits he doesn’t want to look back on missed points-scoring opportunities in 2022 to protect his mental health in F1.

2022 was a difficult season for Pierre Gasly and Scuderia AlphaTauri, slipping from 6th in the 2021 Constructors’ Championship to 9th in 2022.

In addition, Pierre Gasly dropped from 9th in the drivers’ ranking in the previous year to 14th in 2022.

As well as struggling to finish in the points on a regular basis, Pierre Gasly suffered a penalty and earned 10 penalty points which will carry over until the end of May 2023 when he makes his debut with the Alpine F1 team. An F1 driver will be suspended for one race if he reaches 12 penalty points within 12 months.

But despite the ups and downs of 2022, Gasly says he doesn’t want to spend too much time exposing missed opportunities.

“Looking back at the 22 races, I think it’s easy to spot the missing points,” Gasly told RacingNews365.com.

“But for our own mental health in Formula 1, we’ve learned that it’s better not to look back at all the points we’ve missed, otherwise we’ll get depressed very quickly.”

However, Pierre Gasly concedes that things could have improved for AlphaTauri after what has proven to be a difficult year.

“I think we could have done a better job,” Gasly continued.

“Obviously 2022 was a very difficult year for us. We made some mistakes on our side, some bad luck, but it was a very challenging year.”

Pierre Gasly left the team after six years to become Esteban Ocon’s partner at the Alpine F1 Team in 2023, with Gasly replaced by Nick de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda’s teammate Alpha. Fill the seats with Tauri.
