AlphaTauri’s Pierre Guthrie made contact with Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) on the first lap of the F1 Round 11 Austrian Grand Prix sprint on Saturday, 9th. He ended up in 15th place, dropping five positions.

Guthrie got off to a good start, side by side with Hamilton in front, and the left rear came into contact with Hamilton’s right front. Car No. 10 AT03 floated in the air, made a half turn, and stopped on Turn 1 in a state of reverse strike.

According to technical director Jody Egginton, the contact caused damage to the front wing and floor. The impact seemed to be significant, and when asked about the feel of the car after the incident, Guthrie replied, “It was really scary.”

I’m really disappointed. I started from the top 10 but ended early before turn 1.

I’m not sure what happened so I need to review it later, but suddenly when I was next to Lewis, the car turned in the opposite direction of the course.

The left side of the car broke and it was scary to drive for the rest of the race.

It’s going to be a long race tomorrow, so we need to see what we can do to switch our minds and recover.
