Ideal Audience Group works a bit like a small publisher. We follow and attach ourselves to the works of certain filmmakers. This is how we accompanied the films of Johan van der Keuken, Frederick Wiseman, Bruno Monsaingeon, Alexandre Sokourov and today Albert Serra. The choices of these authors were not made according to the genre (documentary, music or fiction) but because of the interest that we attach to the work in progress.

Were you already aware of the subject of nuclear tests in Tahiti?

I have always been sensitive to what clearly resembles a colonial attitude and to the damage, very perceptible on the island of Tahiti even today, which resulted from it. But the most surprising thing is the unexpected encounter with the most recent news: the nuclear bomb is mentioned again in the film as in every news bulletin on the war in Ukraine.

Benoît Magimel has been described as sublime in his role as high commissioner for the double game, were you surprised?

I was not surprised by the formidable performance of Benoît Magimel, knowing the immense qualities of this actor, one of the greatest in France today. I think that meeting Albert Serra and the unique work he does with his actors has, however, magnified Benoît’s acting by bringing it to an unprecedented degree of intensity.

“Painting – Torment on the islands”, a film between chronicle and thriller, described as a masterpiece by many media, won the 2022 Louis Delluc prize.
