Sometimes the Nintendo Direct brings nice surprises. Fans of Olimar and the little plant creatures will be delighted to learn that Pikmin is back in high definition on Nintendo Switch! After Pikmin Bloom, Pikmin 3 and the recently announced Pikmin 4, it will soon be possible to dive back into the first adventures of the little adventurer.

Little reminder ?

Pikmin 1 and 2 are video games released in 2001 and 2004 respectively for the Nintendo GameCube console. They were developed by Nintendo EAD under the direction of Shigeru Miyamoto. Players control the series’ main character, Captain Olimar, who is a miniature alien who must explore an unknown planet and recover parts of his crashed spaceship with the help of the Pikmin, helpful plant creatures. Both games were well received by critics for their unique gameplay and charming period atmosphere.

Already available but

We learn at the end of the Nintendo Direct that Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 are sold for 29.99 euros each on the Nintendo eShop. It is also possible to recover them in the Pikmin 1+2 bundle for 49.99 euros. Without wishing to relaunch the debate, these are obviously dematerialized versions.

Nintendo has however planned the coup and will offer the bundle version, that is to say Pikmin1 + 2 in a physical version but it will be necessary to wait for the September 22, 2023. This will allow players to own a physical copy of the game instead of downloading it online, or do both for the more impatient.

This news is a source of great excitement for fans who have been patiently waiting for the physical release of these games for some time now. Promising news for those who prefer the traditional game cartridge or disc in their hand is also a growing trend of introducing physical game versions alongside digital versions. Finally, once again, we would not want to relaunch the debate…
