Pirates bats explode

With three home runs and several extra-base hits, the Campeche Pirates beat the Yucatan Lions 13-5 yesterday in Bécal, Campeche.

Elián Leyva started for the Lions, who pitched one and two-thirds innings; he received six runs. Ariel Miranda pitched for the Pirates, who allowed two runs, two strikeouts and walked four in two innings.

The long-haired team scored the run of the pool in the first inning on the spikes of Tomo Otosaka, as a “little horse”, after walking Art Charles with the pads full.

The filibusters turned the score around by scoring two runs.

Yadir Drake tied the second high with a sacrifice fly, bringing Webster Rivas to the pentagon.

In the second down the Pirates hit two two-run homers.

The Lions got closer with a run in the eighth, but the Pirates closed it out with a home run for the win.

Tomorrow, the long-haired men will play another duel against the Pirates.
