Pix and credit card can be used to pay traffic fines

2023-04-26 18:00:00

The National Traffic Council (Contran) approved a new resolution that will allow the expansion of payment methods for traffic violations in Brazil, with the use of Pix, credit cards or bank slip for the settlement of debts.

However, only the fines imposed by the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit) and the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) may be paid with the new options.

Charges from municipal and state bodies are left out at this first moment and there is no forecast for their inclusion. According to the executive secretary of the Ministry of Transport, George Santoro, the idea is to optimize drivers’ time.

“The Federal Government works for more digitization, more inspection and fewer deaths and accidents. The citizen will have more ease, efficiency in the service and optimization of time, as he will not only have the option to make the payment via collection slip”, he said.

It is worth remembering that theCurrently, payments are made exclusively by issuing a Union Collection Guide (GRU). The measure has not yet been published in the Official Gazette, but when it is, it will allow for expansion.

Payment will be made through the PagTesouro digital platform. The national traffic secretary, Adrualdo Catão, believes that local traffic bodies will also end up joining the federal platform in the future.
