The accident happened shortly before landing in Pokhara, a starting point for numerous trekking tours in the Himalayas. First bodies were recovered.
Rescuers are recovering victims and debris at the crash site in Pokhara.
A plane with 68 passengers on board crashed in Nepal on Sunday. It was on approach to the city of Pokhara. Pokhara is a popular destination for tourists and trekkers, several famous Himalayan treks such as the Annapurna Circle start from there.
