Play-off revenge successful: Scotland clearly defeats Ukraine

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Ukraine’s footballers suffered their first defeat in the Nations League, losing their lead in Group 1 of League B as a result.

In the repeat of the play-off semi-finals for the World Cup in Qatar, the Ukrainians lost to Scotland 0-3. John McGinn (70′) and substitute Lyndon Dykes (80′, 87′) scored twice as the Scots shot to victory at Glasgow’s Hampden Park and to the top of the table.

In the play-off semifinals on June 1, Ukraine won 3-1 in the same place. On September 27 (8.45 p.m.) both teams will face each other once more in Kraków at the end of the Nations League. Scotland now have a good chance of being promoted to League A.
