No longer welcoming single men into Fédasil centers is an announcement from the Secretary of State, Nicole de Moor, which has provoked debate for several weeks. Direct consequence of this measure: more and more single asylum seekers are sleeping on the streets of Brussels. And to make their situation worse, there is no longer a place in the temporary reception buildings.

On Boulevard Pacheco, in the very center of the capital, there are dozens of single men spending the night outside, right next to the Foreigners’ Office. This is where they submitted an asylum application but they are desperately waiting for news about accommodation in a Fedasil structure.

One of our teams went to meet these lonely men. Between distress and hope, their lives are very complicated. Discover our team’s report above.
