Scheduled for November 18, Pokemon Scarlet/Purple are among the games particularly expected for the end of 2022 and for good reason, they feature the new generation of Pokémon, the ninth (9G). Thus, after a fairly complete second trailer, we learned that the title would take up the open-world formula of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, that the action takes place in a region reminiscent of Spain and that it will be possible to do the adventure with three trainers in multiplayer. On the creature side, we could see the three starters (Poussacha, Chochodile and Coiffeton), the two legendary ones (Koraidon and Miraidon), as well as Pokémon from the first zones (Gourmelet, Pohm, Olivini). Finally, we were also able to enjoy the characters, the two teachers (Olim and Turum) as well as the rival Menzi.
If that’s already a lot of information, a lot of things need to be clarified and a lot of creatures remain to be presented during the event scheduled for Wednesday August 3 at 3 p.m.. First of all, if multiplayer seems to be an important component of the experience, the modalities must be explained. Indeed, should we only expect online multiplayer or local will also be taken into account? If the Pokémon Company decided to hold an event at this time, it is also because Pokémon Scarlet / Violet have been the subject of several major leaks lately. If you hang out on social media, you may have seen very blurry images that are supposed to represent assets from the games. Among these screenshots, some important elements of the adventure were revealed, which prompted the Pokémon Company to hold this event to present official information of these two titles themselves.
Updates for mobile games and a one-more thing of the hype?
However, the presentation will not be devoted only to Pokémon Scarlet / Purple because it is specified that “various Pokémon games” will also be there. Well, the English Twitter account is more specific since it talks about “Pokémon apps and video games”. Thereby, we can expect announcements for mobile games like Pokémon GO, Pokémon Unite or Pokémon Masters. Finally, we can also imagine that we will have news on less highlighted projects such as the Pokémon Home application or the discreet Pokemon Quest.
Beyond that, we are also not immune to a surprise at the end of the presentation. If it’s very unlikely that we’re already talking about the tenth generation game when the ninth isn’t even there, maybe we can expect the announcement of a new spin-off à la Pokémon Legends: Arceus, if not a sequel scheduled for early 2023 as was the case this year. Remember, Pokémon Sparkling Diamond / Sparkling Pearl was released in November 2021, while Arceus arrived a few months later in January 2022.
However, we must recognize that the situation is different here since we had the two remakes of the fourth generation, and not the launch of the ninth generation whose hype should not be diminished by the next project to come. So, maybe we should lower our expectations and rather expect the announcement of a new mobile game. In any case, answer tomorrow at 3 p.m.
