(CNN) — The Polish Minister of the Interior, Mariusz Kaminski, signed an order on Monday suspending the traffic of goods from Russian and Belarusian vehicles across the border with Belarus.
The order was published on the website of the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration.
“Border traffic of goods at border crossings with the Republic of Belarus will be suspended for trucks, tractors, trailers, including semi-trailers, and sets of trucks registered on the territory of the Republic of Belarus or the Russian Federation,” the statement read. order.
The order will last from June 1 “until further notice.”
Earlier this Monday, Kaminski announced on Twitter that he had decided to “add 365 Belarusian citizens to the sanctions list, and freeze the financial and economic resources of 20 entities and 16 other individuals associated primarily with Russian capital.” Among them are “159 parliamentarians from Belarus”.
They will be banned from entering Poland and other countries in the Schengen zone, and their assets will be frozen, the Polish government announced on its website on Monday.
“Other members of Parliament have already been included in the Polish sanctions list. Therefore, the sanctions already apply to all members of the Belarusian parliament,” the announcement read.
The decision was made “in connection with the confirmation of the draconian verdict in the case of Andrzej Poczobut and the repressions by the Belarusian authorities against political opponents of the Alexander Lukashenko regime,” according to the Polish government.
