Warsaw
Poland is set to hold a referendum to see if people support accepting illegal immigrants from Africa and the Middle East. The move is in line with the European Union’s plan to resettle migrants. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki is planning to hold a referendum when the parliamentary elections are to be held in October. The questions for this were released through a video shared on social media. It is seen as a move by his conservative Law and Justice party to use immigration issues in the election campaign.

The same theme was used to come to power in 2015. The video shared included scenes of burning cars and other street attacks in Western Europe. There are one million Ukrainian refugees in Poland who are Christians. However, it has previously been made clear that Muslims and others from different cultures are considered a threat to the nation’s cultural identity and security.
