Quito: In Ecuador, the police defused an explosive device planted in the chest of a security guard. Unknown people planted an explosive device in the chest of a security guard at a jewelry store in Ecuador’s main port city. The explosive device was defused by the police on Thursday.

The security guard was not injured in the incident. Francesco Tabacci, the governor of Guayas state, which includes the city of Guayaquil, said authorities would question him to try to find the suspects. Authorities did not provide further details.

Local news agencies reported that traffic in the area was disrupted as the security man in a white shirt and dark pants walked nervously with dynamite on his chest. Police tweeted a video of the bomb being defused.
