Friday, around 3:30 p.m., two individuals were surprised by a passerby near Herseaux station while they were trying to steal from a vehicle; the two perpetrators fled on foot.
Quickly informed of the facts, two intervention patrols and a team of plainclothes police officers went to the scene and began searching at Rue de la Croix-Rouge, in Herseaux.
Searches directed on site by the police zone drone which was quickly put into service and flown over the neighborhood.
In a few minutes, the police – guided on site by the drone pilot – were able to get their hands on the two suspects while they were hiding in the garden of a house located along the railway.
The two suspects – two thirty-year-olds of French nationality – were arrested and brought back to the Mouscron police premises to be interviewed.
They were carrying various items stolen shortly before from vehicles parked in the area.
The file was sent to the Mons-Tournai King’s Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation is continuing.
