The police forcibly disbanded the night culture festival in front of the Supreme Court of a non-regular labor group again.

The ‘Stop Joint Struggle for Irregular Workers’ (hereafter referred to as joint struggle) held a cultural festival in front of Daebapwon from 6:30 on the evening of the 9th, calling for a solution to the problem of irregular workers and criticizing the police’s response to the rally.

The police demanded that they voluntarily disperse, saying that they had “held an unreported assembly”.

After that, the police, who ordered the dispersal three times, began forcibly dispersing at around 9:20 p.m.

Two participants were injured in the process and taken to the hospital.

Joint Struggle moved to an empty lot in front of a nearby church and continued the cultural festival.

The police said that this cultural festival is an event to express their opinions in relation to the trial pending in the Supreme Court, and that the dissolution process can proceed according to the law, considering that it corresponds to an ‘assembly’ that is obliged to report.

On the other hand, the organizers refute that it is not an illegal assembly, saying that they have been holding sit-ins and cultural festivals in the same place for the past few years without any notice of assembly.

On the 25th of last month, the joint struggle tried to go on a night cultural festival and homeless sit-in in front of the Supreme Court with the metal union, but was blocked by the police’s source blockade.

The participants started a cultural festival nearby, but the police forcibly dispersed it, and three participants were arrested.
