Vienna – A police officer who beat a defenseless man and abused him with numerous knee strikes in the face while carrying out an official act in downtown Vienna on August 1, 2022, was convicted of abuse of office at the Vienna Regional Court on Monday. “You exceeded your authority. This was excessive force,” stated the presiding judge. Regardless, the officer got away with the minimum sentence. The public prosecutor appealed against this.
