Police Open Possibility of Restorative Justice in Baim Wong’s Prank Case

The police are investigating the case prank report domestic violence Baim Wong and his wife, Paula Verhoeven. Even so, the police have opened up the possibility that the Baim Wong case can be resolved privately restorative justice.

“If there are other intentions whose criminal elements are not fulfilled, of course we can open up opportunities for those concerned to apologize or restore justice,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Endar Zulpan to reporters, Tuesday (4/10/2022).

However, the police will first ask for information Baim Wong and Paula related to the intent and purpose of creating the prank content.

“The reported party will be summoned to the South Jakarta Metro Police to be asked for information about the intent and purpose of making the video,” he said.

Baim Wong and Paula Apologize

Previously, Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeven visited the Kebayoran Lama Police on Monday (3/10) after the content drew criticism. Baim and Paula realized his mistake and apologized to the police.

“So here (Kebayoran Baru Police) want to apologize, I apologize because I was wrong, introspect ourselves because we shouldn’t respect our government institutions, hopefully they understand just to reprimand us in their own way,” Baim said at the press conference. Kebayoran Lama Police, South Jakarta, Monday (3/10).

Baim Wong admits to making content prank report domestic violence was his idea. According to him, his wife, Paula Verhoeven, had reminded him of this.

“My wife has also warned, only I personally have an idea,” said Baim.

Baim admitted he was guilty. It hopes prank reporting domestic violence does not harm the police.

“Everything is actually going back to introspection, it’s wrong. But here (Kebayoran Lama Police) I really apologize, no more no less, hopefully no party will harm the police. It’s our fault anyway,” said Baim.

Even so, Baim and Paula were still reported to the police. The reporter explained the reason for reporting the celebrity couple.

“Today we report Brothers Baim Wong and Paula because there was a prank or duping of the community. So we have to act to improve the name of the Polri institution,” said Director of Social and Cultural Friends of the Indonesian Police, Tengku Zanzabella, to reporters, Monday (3/10).
