In Poland, they continue to actively comment on searches in the homes of high-ranking politicians involved in the Justice Fund, created by the previous Law and Justice government.
Polish investigators conducted searches in dozens of locations across the country. As part of the action, a search was also carried out in the house of the former Minister of Justice Zbyneva Zobro. Moreover, the official was not at home. Member of the European Parliament Patrick Yaky called the investigators “pure gangsters” who, in his words, “broke into the house of an ex-minister who recently underwent serious cancer surgery.” At the same time, journalists found out that investigators from the National Security Agency entered the house while Zyobro and his family were not at home, and to do this they demolished part of the fence and broke a window. According to Yakogo, searches were also carried out at the former deputy ministers of justice. Michala Vosia and Marcin Romanowski.
Spokesperson for the Minister of Intelligence Jacek Dobrzynski clarified that the intelligence service conducted searches in private homes and businesses throughout Poland, and several people were detained and handed over to the prosecutor’s office. According to him, this action is connected with a multi-stage investigation conducted by the Polish prosecutor’s office in connection with abuses against some government officials. Spokesperson for the Polish Prosecutor General’s Office Anna Adamyak added to the Polsat TV channel:
“The procedure will check whether the funds of the fund, which operated under the Ministry of Justice under the previous government, were properly used.”
In turn, Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kirwiński noted that the authorities’ actions on Tuesday are “a clear sign that the Polish state is working” and that there is no longer a “caste of impunity.”
“Anyone who violated the law will be held accountable, this is a simple principle,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs wrote on the microblog.
EADaily adds that at the beginning of 2024 the Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar created a committee to investigate the activities of the Justice Fund.
