Politics Whats 噏: The street station was attacked and left a shadow, He Junyao ran for election and spent 60,000 to ask for security

He Junyao ran for election and spent 60,000 for security.

The Legislative Council general election in December last year has been settled, and the election expenses reported by the candidates have been “released” one after another. In addition to the inherent publicity expenses, some candidates have paid 60,000 Hong Kong dollars to hire security guards. The reason for sailing for ten thousand years is Ho Junyao, who was elected from the district direct election constituency to the election committee constituency and was elected, but the point is, “What about the heavy lifting?”

It turned out that everything was related to the events of 2019. Ho replied to the media a few days ago, because he was stabbed on the eve of the district council election that year, and he was worried about his personal safety when he went to the street to promote, so having security by his side would make him feel more at ease.

He Junyao also declared that his total expenses during the election period amounted to HK$132,000, including a “hotel accommodation service” expense of about HK$5,400 on election day, and a fine of HK$91.6 due to the issue of banners, etc. Security expenses accounted for half of it !

The incident happened on the eve of the November 2019 district council election. At that time, when Ho Junyao was canvassing votes at Tuen Mun Street Station, he was attacked by an unemployed man with a knife, causing a 2 cm stab wound to the chest, and Ho Junyao’s bodyguard was also injured. The man was eventually arrested on the spot and sentenced to nine years in prison.
