During today’s session before the 6th Three-Member Court of Misdemeanors of Athens, Mr. Panagiotis Balaktaris, defense counsel in support of the charge of polygamist Ms. Ioanna Gatopoulou, submitted a request to the Court to forward the minutes of the trial pursuant to Article 39 of the Criminal Procedure Code and to institute criminal proceedings prosecution of former Minister Mr. Nikolaos Toskas for the offense of perjury, as – according to what is claimed – he exaggerated on two occasions during his testimony before the Court.
According to Mr. Balaktaris, who submitted the relevant request, “Mr. Toskas denied that he himself gave orders at an operational level, while the former Prime Minister, Mr. Alexis Tsipras, in an interview and the defendants said the opposite, and secondly, Mr. Toskas testified that he did not know about the diversion of the FLOGA 1 helicopter from Dau Pentelis in the direction of MOTOR OIL, while from the rest of the statements and apologies it emerged that he knew about it”.
