The Pope reminds us that service and humanity must be the two dimensions of technological progress.

Addressing the 250 representatives of the Italian Air Force at the Vatican on Saturday (09/102/23) to mark the centenary of the founding of the Italian Air Force, Pope Francis spoke about the good and bad aspects of today’s technological advances that have changed the lives of the people.

The Pope said that technological research, inventions and advanced technologies, including in the field of aviation, should never be aimed at authoritarianism and harmful uses, but should promote justice above the flourishing of the overall good of man and the development of all peoples.

The Pope stated that if this line is followed, the air force will be a valuable service for peace. The Pope listed the services provided by the air force in various fields such as charity work, interventions in the field when there are natural disasters, health, etc.

Likewise, the Pope praised that they express the human dimension of technological progress by ensuring safety, welcoming and helping people in need.
